Day 5

Subject: [firstname] Here's how to reprogram your brain.

Hey [firstname]!

Most of us are conditioned from childhood not to get our hopes up with regard to what we can achieve. My mom calls it “being sensible”.

But the thing is…

As we grow up, our childhood enthusiasm starts to wane, and we begin to err on the side of caution. We dwell on past failures. Sometimes we become cynical and dismiss new ideas out of hand because they're not “sensible”. We start thinking in terms of what we “can't” or “won't” do.

While you won't (that word again) always succeed at everything you do right off the bat, it doesn't mean that every idea you come up with is unrealistic or every goal is unachievable. Just because something didn't work in the past, doesn't mean it won't work now. Just because it didn't work for somebody else, doesn't mean it won't work for you. Besides, sometimes the only way to find out what works is to eliminate everything that DOESN'T work. When you take that attitude, every failure is just a step on the road to success.

As the Law of Attraction states: Like attracts like. Positive attracts positive. Negative attracts negative. But if you go through life believing you're going to fail, guess what happens?

This reminds me of a poem I heard years ago:

'Twas a job she said could not be done
She halfheartedly set right to it
She tried the job that couldn't be done
And by gosh she couldn't do it!

Henry Ford put it even more succinctly: “It doesn't matter if you think you can or think you can't; either way you're right.”

All you have to do is really BELIEVE you can succeed for good things to start happening.
